The project at the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Masterson Street in Melbourne is intended to enhance overall safety and improve traffic operations. A traffic services study conducted by the Department determined that a new traffic signal is warranted at this location.

As part of the Traffic Operations Pushbutton Program, the project includes upgrading the existing flasher to a full traffic signal and enhancing intersection lighting to improve visibility and nighttime safety.
