About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing improvements on State Road (S.R.) 50 (East Colonial Drive) at Highland Avenue. The existing concrete strain poles supporting the traffic signals at the intersection will be replaced with steel mast arms and new signal heads. Pedestrian signals will also be upgraded, along with curb reconstruction and sidewalk curb ramp modifications to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. At the S.R. 50 and Highland Avenue intersection, the curb at all four corners will be extended to help define on-street parking and reduce pedestrian crossing distances. The reconstructed curb will also better accommodate large vehicles turning onto Highland Avenue.
