About
The purpose of this project is to repave the section of U.S. 1 (State Road 5) from north of Century Oaks Circle to north of Myers Drive to maintain the asphalt surface.
To enhance safety and connectivity, FDOT proposes installing a pedestrian activated signal called a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) at the existing crosswalk at the Yellow Dog Café. The project also plans to add intersection lighting for existing pedestrian crosswalks at signalized intersections along the corridor and to reconstruct pedestrian curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Other safety enhancements include restriping the travel lanes to provide wider paved shoulders for bicyclists and adding bicycle through lanes (keyholes) at right turn lanes.
